Roof Commissioning, P-1 Opening

Pointing at the P3 Door, it was the hardest of all problems to find a design solution for. This stadium was designed before 3D software was available. Two reputable mechanical design firms had contracts to provide a solution, but to no avail. I found a professor at Ryerson that agreed to introduce the problem to his 4th year civil class. A brilliant student was the one that solved the problem.

This retractable roof stadium had to work. When looking at previous attempts it was apparent that one major obstacle for success was sealing between the panels. Finding the proper materials to make the seals function properly was key to using a passive method.
