Automated Warehouse, Liquor Control Board Rack Structure, Whitby, ON

This was an extremely hard project to build and install because of extremely tight tolerances. The storage racks are also the superstructure with a height of over 130 feet. When completed large mechanical machines travel the aisles to pick cases of liquor. On this project we installed 25,000 drilled in-place anchors. As the surveyor on this project, I worked with the concrete company that was setting the three foot thick slab; and set the rebar so that we would not hit the bars when drilling for the anchors. It turned out we hit rebar on less than 300 of the holes drilled. Typically it took 1.3 minutes to drill a hole without obstructions, 11 minutes to core drill when rebar was hit.
