Mike Strickland

Technologist & New Product Developer

Mike worked as an ironworker apprentice and ended up getting his journeyman papers at the same time he was finished college. Beginning work full time, initially as an ironworker, he took on various roles (surveyor, Forman, site coordinator, project manager , general manager, etc.) that led to working as a VP of research and development for a major steel fabricator.

Mike takes a very hands-on approach to product development. He always stays deeply connected to the marketplace to understand today's challenges to develop the right solutions for tomorrow.

Mike has over 40 years of manufacturing and site construction experience, he studied New Product Development at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Executive Education.

Today he holds 52 patents of which many have been successfully commercialized.

Among the many highlights he could cite from his career, Mike worked for the design build contractor Ellis-Don from 86 to 90 as project manager for the retractable roof and moving stands of the Skydome Stadium (now the Rogers Centre).

It was a unique experience, coordinating roofing and decking for a roof structure that was being commissioned and moved on a daily basis, the logistics were intense.
