Heavy Load, Propped Movable Working Platforms for Bridge Repairs

The project involved changing out many of the structural steel members in the bridge. The moving platform was designed and built so the customer could unload 40,000 lb loads of structural steel directly onto the platform from a truck on the upper deck. We were able to achieve such high loading capacities by lifting the rolling platforms up off the support rollers with a series of 1.5" rods secured to the main bridge trusses.

The platforms were assembled on barges in Keasby, NJ, then towed by barge to the East River.
